WINTERIZATION SERVICE

New England Boat and Recreation strongly recommends that you properly winterize your boat prior to storing at the end of the season. Doing so will eliminate costly repairs when the boat is brought back out of storage. We offer many options to meet your needs and budget from the basic necessities up to the full service plan that meets or exceeds all the recommendations suggested by the manufacturer. This insures that your warranty and your equipment will be protected from the harsh off season months.

ANTI-FREEZE
We firmly believe that no cooling system should be drained and left dry. Our technicians drain your system and fill it with Mercury biodegradable antifreeze. This product contains rust inhibitors as well as freeze protection for your vital engine components. This method although more costly protects against water pockets thru out the system, and helps eliminates rust and scale from forming in the cooling passages and protects against gasket and seal shrinkage.

FUEL TREATMENT
New England Boat and Recreation takes the fuel that is left in your boat very seriously. Numerous service bulletins have been sent to us by Mercury Marine and the boat manufacturers warning that the new fuels being sold today only have a two week shelf life. We have already experienced issues with customers filling their boats with fuel and leaving it for a period of time and experiencing running problems. Any fuel left in your tank for more then two (2) weeks should be treated for storage. All fuel systems and tanks are treated prior to storage at New England Boat and Recreation. Should you have any additional questions about this issue, our knowledgeable staff can help you prevent costly repairs and running problems due to bad fuel.

ENGINE OIL and FILTER
Both should be changed at the end of the season to ready you for the spring.

DRIVES, LOWER UNITS & PROPELLER
All need to be checked, greased, fluid level checked, or replaced, prop inspected and repaired if necessary.

BATTERY
Disconnected prior to boat being stored.

SPRING PRE-SEASON PREP
Insures that all systems are operating properly. During this process the battery is charged and reconnected. The prop is reinstalled and all fluid levels re-checked. The boat is run, brought up to temperature and all systems are checked for proper operation. This procedure conforms to the warranty requirements set out by your manufacturer and the U.S. Coast Guard.
